Goat Rodeo Goods is the new brand and product range from Fodder + Farm, a seasonal
farm-to-table event space in the wild west of Scotland. Both are a collaboration between
Lucy Pattinson, a chef specialising in game, seasonal food, and open-fire cooking, and
smallholder, writer and photographer Kat Goldin.
Born out of working with local farmers to help reduce food waste and give life to surplus
crops, Lucy and Kat have created a range of pickles, spice blends, and seasonings with
punchy flavours and spicy names. Everything is made in small batches, by hand, focussing
on seasonal produce and UK grown ingredients.
To celebrate Great British Game Week, Goat Rodeo Goods is launching a series of
game-led recipes throughout the week of the 4th – 10th of November, demonstrating how
easy and delicious cooking with game can be at home with the help of the Goat Rodeo
Goods range of pickles and spices.
Kat Goldin says, “Our aim is to make the conversation about eating seasonally fun and fresh
and not the chore that it can sometimes feel like”
The Goat Rodeo Goods game recipe series will kick off the launch of regular recipe uploads
to the Fodder + Farm website and social media channels, showcasing versatile ways to use
the product range in your kitchen. Their diverse skill set, paired with a sense of humour and
love for all things country, can be seen peppered throughout the brand.
One of their seasoning blends is called “Better than Sex Roast Potato Seasoning”—for the
naughtiest roast potatoes in town—which can also be used in their upcoming Pickle Fried
Partridge Recipe. This recipe brines the partridge breast in the Bad Boy Bread and Butter
Pickle juice overnight before coating and frying for a tender bite of glory, served, of course,
with a pickle.
Lucy Pattinson says, “Our whole range has been developed to make seasonal food more
approachable, exciting, and a little bit entertaining. Eating game shouldn’t be reserved for
high days and holidays… or casseroles.”
Both founders grew up in places where having game on the table was the norm. Kat
regularly ate squirrel on a hunting estate in Iowa, while Lucy was often found sitting in a
hedge bottom, dropping pigeons in the Peak District before plucking and cooking them.
The game recipe collection will feature venison, pheasant, partridge, and goose, marking the
beginning of many recipes from the duo.
Goat Rodeo Goods launched in August and is available online at www.fodderandfarm.com
and in select retail stores. Recipes will also feature on their instagram accounts
