Great British Game Week Line Up of Events 2024

We are thrilled to announce a fantastic lineup of events in celebration of Great British Game Week this November. From educational masterclasses to exclusive dining experiences and a special webinar on sustainable venison, this week-long series promises to highlight the rich variety and benefits of British wild meat. With a focus on sustainability, local sourcing, and culinary excellence, we invite everyone to join us as we celebrate the best of British game.

 

Leon and Sarah, renowned for their passion for wild food, will kick off the week by hosting a Game Masterclass, demonstrating techniques and recipes to help participants make the most of seasonal game. This hands-on session is perfect for those keen to deepen their culinary skills and understanding of wild game. For the first time, there will be a Great British Game Week silent auction running throughout the week with all proceeds being donated to Eat Wild and Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust (GWCT Silent Auction lots include a private wild meat dining experience for 10 people in your own home cooked by Sarah and Leon, a meat box from the Wild Meat Company, Prospector Casserole dish from Netherton Foundry and 3 course lunch with Josh Hunter to name a few. Swinton Estate are hosting events throughout the week celebrating British game, including an eight-course tasting menu at the Chef’s Table, a three-course Game Week lunch at Samuel’s Restaurant, and a Yorkshire Game Cookery Course at the Swinton Cookery School. Attendees can also enjoy discounted stays at Swinton Park Hotel during the week.

Ragley Estate Butchers will be promoting their homegrown, wild meat throughout the week by creating recipe bundles for people to pick up and buy in the shop.

Wednesday and Thursday will feature the prestigious Craft Guild of Chefs Competition. The finalists will visit Oakland Parks Game Dealers to see how game is sourced and processed followed by a wild meat lunch. Then on Thursday, trainee  and student chefs will showcase their talent in creating innovative dishes using British game for an array of judges, hosted by Ground Up Cookery School in Devon, and some fabulous prizes for the winner.

Sarah will be travelling to Yorkshire to speak at the Kirkstyle Inn’s game dinner. Game enthusiasts are invited to the Kirkstyle Inn for Feast of the Wild Game Tasting Dinner, where the best of local game cuisine will be served in a cosy, countryside atmosphere.

On Friday there will be a British Quality Wild Venison Scheme Webinar, offering insights into the importance of sustainable venison production in the UK. This online event will provide a comprehensive look at the standards behind the scheme, promoting quality, ethical sourcing, and the environmental advantages of choosing wild venison.
