Willo Game Wins King’s Award for Enterprise in the International Trade Category

Will Oakley meets the King

In a mission to continue to promote the multiple benefits of game to a wider audience, Willo Game, one of the country’s leading processors of high quality wild game, has pledged support for Eat Wild, the development board for all wild meat in the UK, by introducing a voluntary donation at their online checkout.

Based in the South Shropshire countryside, Willo Game has an enviable reputation for supplying high quality and innovative wild game, which is supplied throughout the country and abroad. They are renowned for their trade and are exemplar of standing at the forefront of modernisations within the game industry.

This year (2024), the company has been presented with a King’s Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category. They are one of only two companies in Shropshire to win an award, and were amidst 85,000 entries globally. They have also recently introduced a new freezer capacity of 600 pallets and implemented a new traceability system, whereby the barcode referenced on each product can be used to determine exactly which estate it came from.

Along with the upcoming launch of their new website, Willo Game has pledged to support Eat Wild by including a voluntary donation as part of their online checkout. Since Eat Wild was announced as the official development board for all wild meat in the UK in 2023, the team have driven forward and achieved remarkable success in the marketing of game; introducing it to school menus; stadiums, festivals, and thousands of people who have never heard of wild meat before. Eat Wild’s friendly, accessible ‘foodie’ approach online, on social media, and in person has allowed them to achieve these successes in promoting wild meat.

Mark Robbins, Commercial Manager at Willo Game says

“We are proud to support the work of Eat Wild who are simultaneously making strides in educating the public about its benefits and securing new markets for game. Each penny that is donated via our website checkout will go towards this. We are pleased to be working so closely together to strengthen and support each other – it’s just what our industry needs”

Louisa Clutterbuck, CEO of Eat Wild says

“We are incredibly grateful to Willo Game for their support, which will allow us to continue to create new markets and ensure a fully sustainable ‘circle of game’. It means that Eat Wild can spread awareness of the benefits of British game and secure a future for it through those that enjoy it today and who are in support of a thriving game industry. We hope others will follow Willo Game’s promotion – please get in touch if you would like to do so.”
